To hold a living creature, to see its loveliness and to breathe in that sweet puppy breath, to feel its heart beat in your hands, to know its trust in you, is to understand the special bond between a puppy and its breeder.

Unlike Commercial Breeders, EQUINOX Perm ® Kennels does not accept credit cards. We will not sell puppies outside Canada and the U.S.

Please click on the following link in order to read our SALES CONTRACT and then click on the following link to fill out our MANDATORY ADOPTION APPLICATION form BEFORE you CONTACT US. This form MUST be filled out and sent to us prior to your being considered for an Equinox puppy. A Security Deposit will be taken IF you are accepted.
Your place on our waiting list is guaranteed once your deposit is in our hands. For this reason, deposits are non-refundable unless a puppy is not available for delivery to you. We will be happy to provide references and we expect you to provide references too. We usually have a long waiting list for our puppies. If you would like a puppy the instant you contact us then we are sorry but that is not going to happen and we are not the right choice for you.

Puppies bred by Equinox are out of parents that have been health tested for any inherent diseases prior to breeding. Puppies are guaranteed healthy when leaving our home.

Puppies are cropped before leaving at 12 weeks of age. Just prior to being cropped, they are separated in order to develop independence, such as sleeping in a crate alone. Our puppies have several different surfaces on which to play, such as carpet, linoleum, concrete, asphalt, gravel, etc. When the puppy arrives at his/her new home, there should be little to no crying and the puppy should be well adjusted and socialized.

Pet Puppies are required to be altered -- unless otherwise agreed upon in writing in advance.

We insist on the right of FIRST refusal on any puppies/adults bred and sold by Equinox ... we brought them into this world and we feel we are responsible for them even after they leave us.

The Internet is the 'newspaper of the future' and as such, buyers must be very aware of what they are looking for and what they should avoid. Puppy Mills, Commercial Breeders and Backyard Breeders abound and do so with no good intentions for any breed except to take your money.

Additionally, the internet is a warehouse for impulse buying thus any reputable breeder will of necessity be very wary of the 'on-line shopper' and will proceed with extreme caution.

Become a smart buyer. Take your time in your search for that perfect puppy and try to buy from a breeder that meets all of your requirements, and more importantly, one that you can develop a comfortable affinity with.

It is against Canada 's Animal Pedigree Act to sell a dog as purebred without the Canadian Kennel Club's (CKC) individual registration or to ask for more money in exchange for the dog's papers. The registration papers belong to the dog being sold and a dog that does not come with papers cannot be proven to be purebred. Dogs sold as purebred must be registered to the new owner within the period set out by the CKC.

A TALE FOR A BREEDER

I love my little puppy, he makes my house a home, he always is my best friend, I never feel alone. He makes me smile, he makes me laugh, he fills my heart with love. Did some breeder breed him? Was he sent from  heaven above?

I've never been a breeder, or seen life through their eyes. I hold my little puppy, just sit and criticize. I've never know their anguish, I've never felt their pain, the caring of their charges, through snow or wind or rain. I've never waited all night long for puppies to be born, the stress and trepidation when they're still not there by dawn...

I've never felt the heartache of a little life in my hands, a darling little puppy who weighs just a few grams!! Should you do this instead of that? Or just pray to God? Alone you fight, and hope one day he'll grow into a dog, bring joy to another being and make a house a home. You know it's all just up to you, you fight this fight alone.

Formula, bottles, heating pads, you've got to get this right. Two hourly feeds for this little mite throughout the day and night. In your heart you know it, you'll surely lose the fight to save this little baby, but God willing, you just might save the little mite....

Day one he's in there fighting. You say a silent prayer. Day two and three he's doing well, with lots of loving care. Day four and five - he's still alive your hopes soar to the heavens! Day six he slips away again, dies in your hands day seven.

You take this little angel and bury him alone, with aching heart and burning tears, (and an exhausted groan). You ask yourself, Why do this? Why suffer all the pain? But seeing the joy that puppies bring - it really self explains! So, when you think of breeders and label them with "greed". Think what they sometimes endure to fill another's need.

And when you buy a puppy, with dollars and cents you part. You only pay with money ... we pay with our hearts.

Where to Bury A Dog

If you bury him in this spot, he will come to you when you call. Come to you over the grim, dim frontiers of death, and down the well remembered path to  your side again. And though you call a dozen living dogs to heel, they shall not growl at him, nor resent his coming, for he belongs there. People may scoff at you, who see no lightest blade of grass bent by his footfall, who hear no whimper, people who may never really have had a dog. Smile at them for you shall know something that is hidden from them and which is well worth the knowing. The one best place then to bury a dog, is in the HEART of his master.  ~author unknown~
